gelli arts gel printing plate giveaway fun! :)

After my adventures with trying out the Gelli Arts Gel Printing Plate, the very fine folks over there asked if I would be interested in offering you all a giveaway of a 6" x 6" plate - well of course! :)

So that's what we're doing - leave a comment on this blog post telling me why you'd like to try out printing with a Gelli Arts Gel Printing Plate. On Friday January 6 I'll announce a winner.

I don't know about you but I want to try out new things this year - new art forms or techniques. Keeps the art soul young. So if you've never given this printing method a try, think of it as a youth tonic for your art making skills. :)

And swing on by the Gelli Arts blog. There is some seriously A-W-E-S-O-M-E  art there and really impressive tutorials of the things you can accomplish with this kind of printing.

Below is an example of the excellent things over there but definitely go check out everything over there -  so cool! :)

I have had gelatin plate printing on my to try list forever! I admit to being too lazy to actually make a plate though, plus I worry about the humidity where I live; it always makes "setting" things hard. I think Gelli plates might be the answer to my conundrum!

Wow...a gel plate that is always ready! Brilliant! Maybe I'd actually get around to making something then! Thanks, Lynn,I've never heard of this product.

I would love a Gelli! It was on my Christmas list but Santa must have forgotten.

Gelatin monoprinting has intrigued me or quite a while. But, it always seemed so messy and cumbersome. Watching everyone using their Gelli plates I think the time has come to take the plunge.

Judy Ferguson said...

I have done the gel printing and have considered getting the plate. I think it takes practice to get good results. Trial and error. Would love to have one.

I tried making gel (Jello) plates...what a lot of work and they don't last for long. Would love to try the Gelli Arts plates. A new product for a New Year! Thanks for the giveaway!

My mom and I didn't always get along when I was growing up, yet she was always the first to support my artistic tendencies. She bought me a gel printing kit back in the late 60's or early 70's - it came on a flexible backing and you could reprint things from it (like mimeographs - LOL!). I don't remember quite how it worked, but I know I spent copious hours printing out tons of artwork with it. I'd forgotten how neat that was - and it's amazing to see how things come full circle sometimes. I'd love to revisit that fun.

I would love a gelli - making real gelatine plates never seems to work out for me. :-)

I would love to try their gelli plate and compare it to the home made plate I made out of sure jell...gotta be an improvement

Hey, Lynn. I would love a gelli plate. For one, I never think far enough ahead to have a gelatin one made when I want it and I have tons of snow dyed fabric from last year that needs more. I could also use it to make backgrounds for my encaustic work. Thanks. Lera

Count me in. I would love to give this a try!!

I'd like to see how it compares to the homemade version. I'm interested in it's durability and in several ideas I saw on the Gelli Arts website. Plus your results have piqued my interest!

fun! I have used gelatin to print (and that was loads of fun!) but i would love to try a reusable Gelli plate too!

I just love to monoprint! Making one's own plate takes forethought of which I usually have little. I would like to print when I have the urge. Thanks for the chance to receive a gelli plate.

I started messing around with monoprints last year, and would love to try this out. What with cats and kids, though, I've never gotten around to making a real gelatin plate, so this sounds like the way to go! And thanks to Gelli for sponsoring the giveaway! Cheers, Sarah

A gel print pad ready to go at a moment's notice! I always want to print NOW, and don't want to have to make the darned thing and then WAIT for it to set up. THis sounds like heaven.

"Try out new things this year" is my mission exactly! I would love to try gelatin plate printing and the gelli arts gel printing plate would be such a catalyst. Thanks for the motivation!

Oh...my...GOODNESS! I've really been wanting to try printing so badly, having started last year a 365 (art a day) project as what one would certainly consider a "beginning" mixed media artist. I've struggled a bit with getting started even -anywhere- with printing, and having watched a video of this, I know this would really get me started. I'd sure love to do so! Thanks so much for even giving us a chance, and I love having your mail in my inbox every day...

I'd love to try this. Keep meaning to try the technique and this requires less prep which means I'd be more likely to do it. I love monoprinting!

I had not heard of Gelli Plates until your post. They look like a wonderful item to add to my art cloth tool box.

The results you got from playing with the gelatin plate got me thinking about trying it again... The new gel plates look so wonderful in that the mess and time to prepare the plate is gone! I would love to have a chance to win one to try!

Linda M said...

Count me in - you could actually be spontaneous with one of these, not have to plan ahead and make the plate.

Tawney said...

This sounds like such a great product. It's hard to plan and have room in the fridge, etc. Would love to win.

Like everyone else, I think this would be fun to try and less messy and "more instant" than the real thing.

janice said...

Would love to try this. I bought gelatin and then never made a plate. This seems so much easier, although I realize you loose the serendipity of the plate disintegrating.

Dominie Nash said...

I had just heard about these plates--I have done the "real" thing and keep putting off doing more as it is such a mess. Looking foreard to trying this.

Living in Australia I find that it takes longer for new products to become available. I would love to be one of the first here to experiment and print with the gel plate. Lynn, it seems that you are only limited by your imagination. Thanks

I'd love to have a gelli plate. My gelatin plates are either too watery or stick in the pan. Oh well, guess that's why I'm the Goddess of Flame

Well, I purchased all the necessary supplies to make a gel plate only to find that it will break down within a short time. I understand the Gelli Plate will last through many many prints and I'm stoked. I'm one for picking up things on the street, and my friends think I am crazy, but I want to show them just what can be done with a gel print. Thanks for the chance to try one out.

I teach in a reclaimed 60s school building: my room gets so hot in the winter real gelatin plates come apart. I'd use that little plate for a tester - to show results to the administration and talk them into buying a set for their art school.

Karen Markley said...

this is way easier than making your own plate! I love the results. Can't wait to try my own gelli arts gel printing plate! It's going to be a great creative year!

I love making my own fabric using all kinds of printing techniques and I have been wanting to play with a gel printing plate for ages. It would be amazing to have one to play with and not to have to keep mixing up the powder. Thank you for this chance to win one.

I want one to cut up like you did yours, so I have little cubes to use! I love the one I have and I can't bring myself to cut it up.

I have recently taken to the task of re-decorating my home. I want to decorate with only items made by my family. For now I have been making large prints of photographs I have taken, and have started with screen printing.
A Gelli printing plate would be a great addition to my arsenal of craft-making tools. It looks like a fun and easy tool to get the whole family involved in making our home more beautiful and personal.
Thanks
