hand stitching thread giveaway! :)
I was rooting around through the thread stash today looking for just the right color to use on a new project and I found these:
Your eyes do not deceive you. Those are pastel threads. That were in my stash. Want a closer look?
Years ago I owned a brick and mortar store that specialized in hand stitching. I'm not sure if that is where these came from or if I purchased them at a quilt festival. I'm fairly certain they are hand dyed threads from Artfabrik but I can't be sure, I don't save a single label on anything.
At any rate, they are lovely things, aren't they? But I can say with absolute certainty that they will continue to age in the stash because they aren't a palette I use more then once every five years.
So I want one of you to have them! :) They look to be in two colorways but in in both size 5 and size 8 perle. There are four skeins total. I've no idea how many yards there are but there are lots, I've cut the skeins how I normally to to stop myself from threading up a five mile long piece of thread to stitch with.
Leave a comment on this post by the end of week and I'll pick a winner on Saturday April 13 to send these pretties to. Just tell me why you love hand stitching and you'll be entered in the drawing! Happy commenting and stitching!! :)

They would be delightful, aging in my stash! :)
Not sure why but I don't feel like a piece is finished unless it has even the tiniest bit of hand stitching. I enjoy because its more quiet and meditative than using the machine.
I do lots of flowers and underwater scenes. The colors would be perfect.
I love embellishing pieces with hand stitching, embroidery, beads, etc. only hand stitching I don't like is binding.
I have the perfect project that would lovingly use those threads!
the 'unknown' comment is from Lauren Strach :)
Oh, those threads look like a delicious sorbet! I love to hand stitch and always have something to work on in the evenings. It calms my mind and helps me relax. I have tried to dye pastels, but either they look washed out failures or they end up being a medium value. Thanks for the chance! Have a great week.
Hand stitching, embelishments, beads, found objects....few of my pieces are devoid of one or more of the techniques! Pearl cotton has so many possibilites! Pastels are exclamation points to drenched colors. These lovies would definately get used in my studio!

they look to have Laura W's name all over them. pretty!@
Hand stitching makes every piece look richer, but I mostly use embroidery floss. Perle cotton would be a nice change and to get some from a giveaway--what a bonus!
Lynn,
I have really enjoyed hand stitching lately and would love to give your thread a home. Thanks for the opp.
Those colors are absolutely gorgeous---and not what I would call pastels.

I love the texture and detail that hand stitching adds.
I love hand stitching because it is calming for me. I get the feel of the fabric and thread in my hands. It's the closest I get to a Zen moment.
Thanks for offering such a neat give away.
I have the perfect project for these. Beautiful Thansk
I could use those, any color will work for me.
wonderful colors, for a boro I am currently working...all light in mostly whites and off whites with color added now only in the stitch, all handwork as I participate in a class with Jude Hill...I would love to have my name entered into the drawing.
Thanks...Kristin F
Even my dark pieces seem to perk up with some lovely light stitches!
Hand stitching has always been my go to for stress relief. Adding stitching to a piece puts an entirely different feel to a piece, once that smacks of extra attention and love.
gjeneve@gmail.com I left the previous post, but it didn't ask me to sign in or give an address. Sure would hate to miss out on this wonderful chance just because you didn't have my email adress. g
I confess, I don't do a lot of hand stitching. But I look at those threads and see a beautiful, handwoven lace scarf!
I want this thread! I love mark making with perle cotton and needle. It is meditative and soul satisfying!!
I would definitely put those yummy threads to use. Delightful!
ohhhh these are pretty enough to pet - I've been doing more hand stitching these days - its been fun mixing traditional redwork with my art quilts!
I love hand stitching because I can do it while sitting with hubby and watching TV....although hubby says I never actually "watch" I listen as I stitch away.....thanks for the chance to win this giveaway...

I love to add hand stitched threads to my needle felted pieces. It's a relaxing thing to do while the TV in on. Thanks for the opportunity. Lois
I enjoy the rhythm and mobility of hand stitching on my abstract art quilts. I like the contrast of the traditional handwork against the shibori or hand printed/designed fabric. Hand stitching always reminds me of my mom, who's no longer with me, who taught me as a young girl to embroider on pillow cases. I like keeping that tradition alive.
Hand stitching is so therapeutic!
Thanks!
These are just beautiful threads! Thanks for such a great giveaway!
These fibers would be perfect for my inkle loom project.
These beautiful hand-dyed threads would be great for Sashiko stitching on batik fabrics.
I love the look of hand-stitching, the 'hand-made-ness'. I love the act and feel of stitching by hand.
I stitch all the time, on dolls, on collage, crazy quilting blocks, paintings.but I don't have any beautuful threads like yours. I've been working on the blocks for nine years and I would use the threads immediately, so please, let me win!!

Ohhhh. I can't believe you don't want these! Thanks so much for you generosity! I make art quilts and I love the hand stitching part because it is so much more relaxing than using the sewing machine. Plus I can do it in the car or in front of the tv.
My fiber group is focusing on hand stitching embellishments on art quilts. These threads would be perfect.
