gelli arts gel printing plate giveaway fun! :)

After my adventures with trying out the Gelli Arts Gel Printing Plate, the very fine folks over there asked if I would be interested in offering you all a giveaway of a 6" x 6" plate - well of course! :)

So that's what we're doing - leave a comment on this blog post telling me why you'd like to try out printing with a Gelli Arts Gel Printing Plate. On Friday January 6 I'll announce a winner.

I don't know about you but I want to try out new things this year - new art forms or techniques. Keeps the art soul young. So if you've never given this printing method a try, think of it as a youth tonic for your art making skills. :)

And swing on by the Gelli Arts blog. There is some seriously A-W-E-S-O-M-E  art there and really impressive tutorials of the things you can accomplish with this kind of printing.

Below is an example of the excellent things over there but definitely go check out everything over there -  so cool! :)

  1. I have had gelatin plate printing on my to try list forever! I admit to being too lazy to actually make a plate though, plus I worry about the humidity where I live; it always makes "setting" things hard. I think Gelli plates might be the answer to my conundrum!

  9. Gelatin monoprinting has intrigued me or quite a while. But, it always seemed so messy and cumbersome. Watching everyone using their Gelli plates I think the time has come to take the plunge.

  10. I have done the gel printing and have considered getting the plate. I think it takes practice to get good results. Trial and error. Would love to have one.

  14. I tried making gel (Jello) plates...what a lot of work and they don't last for long. Would love to try the Gelli Arts plates. A new product for a New Year! Thanks for the giveaway!

  15. My mom and I didn't always get along when I was growing up, yet she was always the first to support my artistic tendencies. She bought me a gel printing kit back in the late 60's or early 70's - it came on a flexible backing and you could reprint things from it (like mimeographs - LOL!). I don't remember quite how it worked, but I know I spent copious hours printing out tons of artwork with it. I'd forgotten how neat that was - and it's amazing to see how things come full circle sometimes. I'd love to revisit that fun.

Hey, Lynn. I would love a gelli plate. For one, I never think far enough ahead to have a gelatin one made when I want it and I have tons of snow dyed fabric from last year that needs more. I could also use it to make backgrounds for my encaustic work. Thanks. Lera

Oh...my...GOODNESS! I've really been wanting to try printing so badly, having started last year a 365 (art a day) project as what one would certainly consider a "beginning" mixed media artist. I've struggled a bit with getting started even -anywhere- with printing, and having watched a video of this, I know this would really get me started. I'd sure love to do so! Thanks so much for even giving us a chance, and I love having your mail in my inbox every day...

  60. Would love to try this. I bought gelatin and then never made a plate. This seems so much easier, although I realize you loose the serendipity of the plate disintegrating.

  61. I had just heard about these plates--I have done the "real" thing and keep putting off doing more as it is such a mess. Looking foreard to trying this.

Living in Australia I find that it takes longer for new products to become available. I would love to be one of the first here to experiment and print with the gel plate. Lynn, it seems that you are only limited by your imagination. Thanks

I'd love to have a gelli plate. My gelatin plates are either too watery or stick in the pan. Oh well, guess that's why I'm the Goddess of Flame

  65. Well, I purchased all the necessary supplies to make a gel plate only to find that it will break down within a short time. I understand the Gelli Plate will last through many many prints and I'm stoked. I'm one for picking up things on the street, and my friends think I am crazy, but I want to show them just what can be done with a gel print. Thanks for the chance to try one out.

  73. I teach in a reclaimed 60s school building: my room gets so hot in the winter real gelatin plates come apart. I'd use that little plate for a tester - to show results to the administration and talk them into buying a set for their art school.

  74. this is way easier than making your own plate! I love the results. Can't wait to try my own gelli arts gel printing plate! It's going to be a great creative year!

  77. I have recently taken to the task of re-decorating my home. I want to decorate with only items made by my family. For now I have been making large prints of photographs I have taken, and have started with screen printing.
A Gelli printing plate would be a great addition to my arsenal of craft-making tools. It looks like a fun and easy tool to get the whole family involved in making our home more beautiful and personal.
    Thanks
